We met at the autumn goodness event of the Jablaniška Valley Dr. Janko Rodet, who was the chairman of the evaluation committee in the evaluation of herbal brandy. The listeners of his short lecture were impressed by revealing the appropriate way to use herbs and spices in combination with brandy.
Because Dr. Janko Rode so well received, we at the LAZ association decided to organize a lecture in cooperation with him entitled The usefulness of herbs in the preparation of alcoholic and other drinks. Herbs are not just medicinal plants. Some of their good qualities and aromas can also be captured in drinks and other drinks. At the lecture, dr. Janko Rode spoke about how alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks can be prepared for thirst, well-being, pampering or brightening up the day.
Dr. Janko Rode is a biologist who completely surrendered to magical plants with typical aromas, healing effects and various usefulness. In Slovenia, it would probably be difficult to find a connoisseur who knows more about the use of herbs than Dr. Rode. This is proven by countless interesting contributions in the magazine Gaja, and for many years he was also the head of the garden of medicinal and aromatic plants at the Institute of Hops in Žalec. Today, he lectures at the Faculty of Agriculture in Maribor, participates in various projects related to herbs, leads workshops and revives traditional knowledge about the use of herbs. He is also the author and translator of books on herbs, the most knowledgeable of which is a herb garden, a local pharmacy.
