In the spring, the municipality of Šmartno pri Litija, in cooperation with the Association for Rural Development LAZ, submitted a project on the topic of twinning of cities within the framework of the Europe for Citizens program. The project called LageX was approved by the European Commission. The activities will be carried out in the first half of November 2012. Representatives of the municipality of Šmartno pri Litija will be hosted by representatives of the municipality of Breznički Hum and the local action group Lag Prizag, and the topic of the project concerns the development of the countryside and the transfer of good practices in the operation of local action groups in both countries. Both municipalities are celebrating the municipal holiday of November 11, and on this occasion the signing of a memorandum on the further cooperation of the two municipalities is planned on this day.
The goal of such projects is to strengthen the connections between the association of European citizens for future cooperation. The LAXA project will contribute to the international operation of the municipality, the creation of joint cross-border projects and, last but not least, to a more connected Europe, which is also the goal of the Europe for Citizens program.
The meeting will take place November 9 to 11, 2012. The bus will be filled by active representatives of the local community from the ranks of councilors, societies and, of course, the mayor and his colleagues. Associations that have experience in implementing LAS projects will present them to the Croats, and the latter will show us the interesting things about Croatian Zagorje and the events on St. Martin’s Day.
