A new interesting event on Breg pri Litija proved that great things can be done with joint efforts. Several thousand people visited the day of strawberries and asparagus in May, the long-awaited sunny and warm Sunday in May, which was jointly organized by all the associations operating in Breg and the local community of Breg Tenetiše, and professional help was provided by the Center for Development and Regional Crossroads as part of European projects NGO, which otherwise provides support to all associations in the region.
The event connected associations, farms with the offer and villagers. Strawberries and asparagus grow well on the bank, so we came up with the idea that a visit to the Jablanica valley and the bank can also be increased with a culinary event intended for the whole family.
At more than twenty stalls, the local women prepared homemade delicacies, and the walk between the stalls was also enriched by artisans from elsewhere. The organizers – the Breg Volunteer Firefighters Association, the Laz Rural Development Association, the Breg Tenetiše Sports Association and the Red Cross Local Committee, are convinced that a good attendance, in addition to the good weather, is especially supported by a rich program and good information in the entire heart area Slovenia. The strawberries soon went out, but gourmets came to their own account, trying asparagus dishes, desserts and strawberry drinks. A pleasant family afternoon was enriched by sports social games and creative workshops for children, and the visitors also took advantage of the visit to see the permanent collection of Sava pebbles, which can be seen in the fire station in Breg.
The proceeds from the event will be used by the associations from Breg and Tenetiš for the renovation of the fire station in Breg. The organizers would like to thank the farmers who allowed parking on their lawns, the donors for the winnings for the lucky draw, and all the associations, local companies and the villagers who helped with the event.
Strawberry and Asparagus Day on the third Sunday in May will become a traditional event on Breg, which will further enrich the tourist offer of our area.
