Meeting with musicians from the sister Croatian municipality of Brezniški Hum, Soundex 13 to 15.9.2013

Just like last year’s meeting on St. Martin’s Day in Hum in Breznica, this year’s also was coordinated by the LAZ association. We included the Šmarsk tambourines and last year’s meeting participants from the ranks of the LAZ, ŠTUC and ŠD Dolina societies. The fear that we would not be able to put off well enough for our Croatian friends for last year’s hospitality was unnecessary, as the guests were very satisfied when they left. The topic of the meeting was ‘Music Exchange’ (name of the Sound Exchange project).

Friday evening at acceptance (video) Mayors Zoran Hegedić and Milan Izlakar greeted the guests and locals in the inn Pustov mlin in Reka. With good food and many musicians from the Sveti Martin brass band from Hum from Brezni, the evening passed all too quickly.

The guests spent the night in two locations – the young musicians slept at the Paternoster homestead in Tenetiše, and the rest at the Kovač inn in Litija.

Saturday was dedicated to music and viewing good practice in the field. in the past workshop And the evening concert was organized by the president of the cultural association the tambourine orchestra Šmartno, Mrs. Minka Savšek.
Hard-working cultural figures from Šmar, Ida Dolšek, Marjanca and Rudi Vidic, representative of JSKD Rosana Maček and representatives of musicians from Croatia exchanged experiences in reviving and preserving musical heritage, presented projects and even sang polyphonically together.

sunny Saturday afternoon It was perfect for the visit of the Šmarsk countryside. We took the guests to Gradišče pri Litija, where they were introduced to the eco-farm PRthe hen and PRVovk and treated them to house delicacies.

At Vinje Vrh, the winegrower Zadražnik presented them with our wine-growing region and our wines.

The evening concert began with the signing of a document on cooperation between the Šmartna Tambura Orchestra and the St. Martin Breznički Hum Limen Band. Watch the clip here.
In an hour and a half, the sounds of the tambourine orchestra and brass band alternated. The singers of the Laz Women’s Choir from Jablaniška dolina also sang.

After the concert, there was a pleasant gathering, where music connected and inspired.

On Sunday, the guests first visited Bogenšperk Castle, and then spent the rest of the day at the Reka Sports Recreation Center in Cerovica. The Dolina Sports Association prepared fun sports games in which the teams of Slovenia and Croatia competed. By the way, the guests jumped into the forest to get mushrooms.

Friends from Croatia, as well as the hosts, spent a pleasant and interesting weekend together and promised to meet again soon – maybe already on Martin’s Day in Hum in Brezniš.
