Good practice in Prekmurje on May 10, 2014

The professional excursion is one of the activities of the Goodness from the Heart project, which was financially supported by LAS Srce Slovenije and is carried out in partnership by the LAZ Association and the Association of Rural Women and Girls Polšnik. On Saturday, May 10, they always went together to get new knowledge and experience in Pomurje and Prekmurje. The focus was on local columns, marketing approaches in the promotion and marketing of lojka products and experience in providing all sanitary, market, tax and other legally prescribed conditions.
After a whole day of presentations and tours of good practices, the participants felt the effect of large investments in Prekmurje, as they surpass us in too many areas.
Cooperation between societies on projects and excursions is definitely a good practice, which should be repeated.

The presentation of the cooperative’s journey was very interesting pomele from Velika Polana, which is one of the few rural development cores that survived even after the completion of the project and public funding. They employ 15 hard-to-employ workers, develop local products adapted to today’s demand, connect local growers, implement cross-border projects with Hungarians, etc.

By visiting the tomato production complex in Renkovci near Turnišče, we learned about the development of a project worth EUR 10 million, which annually produces 3 million kilograms of branded tomatoes Lušt.  It was not possible to enter the greenhouses to prevent infections, but there was a presentation of the Netherlands technology production by the technologist very interesting.

The weather was very nice, after the night’s downpour, the plains were even greener and visibility even better. A walk by Lake Bukovniška was an opportunity to relax, while the local guide presented the development of the energy park, which is the biggest tourist attraction in the municipality of Dobrovnik. Recently, the offer has been supplemented with adventure parks.

At first, the purpose was to visit the farm that grows asparagus, but it turned out even better, because on that day an event took place in Dolga vas near Lendava Asparagus day and asparagus dishes.  All the dishes for tasting, as well as in the lunch menu, were with added asparagus, including ice cream. There was also a large offer of fresh asparagus, as many plantations have been planted in Prekmurje in recent years.
The president of KS presented us with the beginnings and purpose of the event, which was held for the second time this year.

On the way home, there was a stop at an organic farm that grows grains and joins a project ecoprlekija.

A young family, two young educated people who, with a higher education, chose life and work on the farm, are an example of how perseverance, market orientation and mutual support from organic farming can survive. They have developed a brand Villa Natura and a sales network in larger stores in Slovenia.
