In less than a year, the firefighters of PGD Jablanica, with their savings and financial help from the municipality of Šmartno pri Litija, donors, locals and the physical work of many volunteers, demolished the 85-year-old fire station in Zgornja Jablanica and built a new one. The new premises represent a big step in ensuring modern conditions for the operation of firefighters, as well as for social and social life in the Jablaniška valley. At the opening ceremony, the LAZ association, which is based in the fire station, thanked the president of the association of PGD Jablanica, Mitja Jerin, and the president of the construction committee, Juret thrust.

Since 2008, the Jablaniška firefighters have been preparing for construction, and when the younger generation took over the management of the PGD, the conditions for starting were created. With great enthusiasm and courage, they embarked on the project, raised funds and connected the locals. They completed 5,600 volunteer hours and built and functionally equipped the facility in record time – in 355 days.

On the ground floor there are rooms for firefighting – a garage, a tool room, an office, a convenient kitchen and toilets, and on the first floor there is a hall for 200 people, a convenient kitchen and toilets.
In the LAZ association, we will strive for a varied program of events and events that will take place in the hall. Certainly, the fire station will also be a gathering place for the young and the elderly, which we will especially encourage with various projects in the LAZ association. On behalf of the association, the president of the association, Jelka Babič, thanked them for the establishment of excellent conditions for the implementation of the program of our association, and congratulated them on their extraordinary feat. She emphasized the importance of the new premises, especially the hall for social and social life in the Jablaniška valley, and promised to participate in the provision of content and the maintenance of the building. Mojca Hauptman called on parents to encourage their children to socialize at the new fire station and thus build social life in the village. Jelka, Mojca and Tatjana handed over a gift – pictures with the first fire station from 1930, with an upgraded fire station and a new one, as well as a ‘bush’ of sausages and salami.

The singers of the Laz Women’s Choir also brightened up the opening ceremony with their performance. From now on, the hall in the new fire station will also be a place for choir rehearsals, annual concerts and other cultural events.
